Why Move?

After having looked around for quite some time, we have decided to move. For Mary, by herself, our present property is too much upkeep. (Of course Jen helps now, but this will come to an end we expect!) There is the pool, the large yard, all the flower borders and the shrubs, the grass (4 hours of mowing each week), the trees, the house, the snow in the winter on our large driveway. There is a ton of work all the time. The house inside is big, and it by itself is enough to keep one busy. It was also necessary to do a lot of renovations to make our current home wheelchair accessible.

So we have bought a condo.

We have found a condo where all the homes are not connected under one roof, but are separate bungalows. (no neighbour noise) The grounds are common property, and the homes are privately owned. The grass is cut and the snow is removed so that there is no outside work except possibly some optional gardening behind the house for those who like to do this. The area is very tranquil, and to the rear of the condo properties, very close by, is the Elgin hiking trail, a prime nature area, great for watching birds, deer and other wildlife.

Waarom Verhuizen?

Nadat we een hele tijd hierover hebben nagedacht, hebben we besloten een ander huis te kopen. Het beste leek ons een condo, een huis bijna zonder eigen grond, met alle onderhoud inbegrepen, zoals grasmaaien, sneeuwruimen, en verder onderhoud buitenshuis. Het huidige huis met zwembad is voor Marry een hele belasting en een onuitputtelijke bron van werk. Het zou ook nodig geweest zijn om omvangrijke verbouwingen te doen om het geschikt te maken voor een rolstoel.

We hebben een vrijstaande bungalow gekocht, dan heb je nooit burengerucht. (Toch al onwaarschijnlijk in deze zeer rustige buurt!) Alles is gelijkvloers (er is een benedenverdieping voor loge's.) Het huis is laag gebouwd en heeft een veel gemakkelijker toegang dan ons huidige huis. Achter onze condo wijk is een prachtig natuurgebied, met een uitgezette wandeling (35 km lange Elgin Hiking trail).

The streets have bungalows on both sides. Our house backs onto the commons, the other side of the street backs onto fields.

The condos are grouped around a common area with very nice landscaping. A nice gazebo is in the centre with pleasant walkways around it. Our house is the second from the left.

De condos zijn rondom een "binnenplaats" gegroepeerd met wandelpaden en een tuin pavilioen.

The Den, facing the front of the house, can also be used as a second main floor bedroom.

ps. Our furniture is not on the pictures yet. We have since moved, but do not yet have new pictures to post.
Our previous home at Marlene St. has been sold on October 1, 2007.

ps. Het meubilair op de fotos is niet van ons. We zijn inmiddels verhuisd, maar hebben nog geen uptodate fotos.

The main floor also contains a laundry and of course the garage.
The basement also contains another (3rd) bedroom as well as a storage / workshop / laundry area.

Gelijkvloers is nog ruimte voor een wasmachine en droger, en ook de garage is gelijkvloers.
Beneden is ook nog een 3e slaapkamer en een opslagruimte / werkplaats / waskamer.
